I’ve a genuine problem with everyone calling the guys who collect our trash as “kachrewala”. I do know that many of the folks who read my blogs are American or European so I’d tell the meaning of all the words used in Hindi.
My mother used to call these men “kachrewala” not because she wanted to disrespect them but because everyone called them that only. I corrected her and told her that he is a “safaiwala” (the one who cleans). We are the one who are spreading trash or garbage so it makes us the “kachrewala”.
If these men who perform these jobs, like cleaners, sweepers, electricians, plumbers etc. don’t do their jobs then our whole ecosystem would fail. I swear to God if I ever see anyone disrespecting them for no reason, I’ll break their face.
These men are the real men, masculinity will no longer be disrespected.
